Agricultural Conference 2019
Land and economy: agriculture between the farm and the world

Biodynamic agriculture works in direct partnership with living nature. If it wants to avoid running financially dry, it must make a conscious effort to get close to the market. Many innovations (such as Community Supported Agriculture) have developed in response to this need. The conference is a platform for exchanging information and sharing inspiration for taking initiatives in farming economics. Examples will be presented from different countries. How can we understand and develop the farming organism economically? How do regional associative networks operate? Does agriculture have a particular purpose in the global economy? Based on these questions and using examples from practice, we aim to re-envision the basic principles of and approaches to associative economics.
In addition to the plenary sessions there will be more specialised themed sessions, for example on food systems – from field to plate, associative north-south trade relations, soil as a common good, etc. Opportunities for sharing experiences are offered in 20 workshops and there will be artistic courses and guided tours of the Goetheanum. The conference will be held in five languages (German, English, French, Spanish and Italian). It is open to all interested parties.
Presenters include: Maaianna Knuth (Zimbabwe), Gerald Häfner (Germany), Änder Schanck (Luxembourg), Choitresh Kumar Ganguly und Manisha Kairaly (India), Helmy Abouleish und Mona Lenzen Abouleish (Egypt), Christoph Simpfendörfer (Germany), Aline Haldemann und Christian Butscher (Switzerland), Jennifer Chang (South Korea), Boris Voelkel (Germany), Jacqueline Barin (Canada) und Esteban Acosta Pereira (Mexico) und Hermann Pohlmann (Germany), Claude Gruffat (France), Ueli Hurter (Switzerland), Volkert Engelsman (Netherlands), Patrick Holden (England).
