Rebuilding the Goetheanum Stage

The process of breaking-down of the "old" Goetheanum stage is completed. The inside of the Goetheanum stage area is comparable to a cube. Read the "Renovation Newsletter" no. 3.

Von: Goetheanum

The area under construction is comprised of the South and Western facades and the Goetheanum's terrace. From the total estimated costs of 13.5 Million Swiss Francs, 11 Million is already funded- thanks to contributions from the members of the General Anthroposophical Society, the proceeds from the sale of House Julian to the Edith Maryon Foundation, and benefits from Solothurn Historical Preservation and the Federal Commission for historical preservation. After the renovation, the Goetheanum stage will be in a modern state. The suspension of the upper-stage structure is also an innovation: worldwide for the first time, probes will continuously measure the load on the concrete beams at work on the stage. The rising platforms allow for different adjustable heights at locations, as well as a sloping stage for Eurythmy. Something new will be a more flexible stage portal, able to open wider. The re-opening of the Great Hall is planned for September 26, 2014. The new stage with an orchestra pit will also allow for opera guest performances.
