He is professor of physics at Amherst College, where he has taught since 1978. His research has included studies in parity violation in atoms, the experimental foundations of quantum physics, and the relationship between sciences, the humanities and meditation. Arthur’s latest book is Meditation as Contemplative Inquiry: When Knowing Becomes Love. In this book he offers an overview of the meditative life, weaving practical instruction together with the guidance and inspiration of the world’s great teachers, from Rudolf Steiner to Rumi, and from Goethe to the sages of Asia.
